FAQs
Ordering & Pickup
1. How do I place an order?
All orders can be placed directly through my online store. Simply browse the products, add your favorites to the cart, and check out.
2. Do you offer delivery or shipping?
Under the Wisconsin Cottage Food Law, I can only sell my baked goods directly to consumers. That means I cannot ship orders, but I do offer local pickup at a designated location. Pickup details will be provided at checkout.
3. When will my order be ready?
Since all of my products are made fresh, I require at least 7 days to prepare your order. You will receive a confirmation with pickup details once your order is ready.
Product & Ingredients
4. What ingredients do you use?
I use high-quality, simple ingredients in all my sourdough products. Each product listing includes a full ingredient list and allergen information.
5. Do you offer gluten-free sourdough?
No, I do not offer gluten-free products at this time. All of my sourdough contains wheat flour and naturally occurring gluten from the fermentation process.
6. Are your products vegan?
Many of my classic sourdough loaves are vegan, as they only contain flour, water, salt, and a natural starter. However, some items (like cookies and muffins) may contain dairy or eggs. Check each product listing for details.
Storage & Freshness
7. How should I store my sourdough bread?
Room Temperature: Store your loaf in a paper bag (included w/ purchase) or wrapped in a tea towel for 3-5 days. Avoid plastic bags, as they trap moisture and can make the crust soft.
Freezing: To keep your sourdough fresh longer, slice it and freeze it in an airtight bag for up to 3 months. Toast slices straight from the freezer when ready to eat.
8. Can I refrigerate my sourdough bread?
It’s not recommended. Refrigeration can dry out the bread faster. Instead, keep it at room temperature or freeze it for longer storage.
Health & Fermentation
9. What makes sourdough different from regular bread?
Sourdough is naturally fermented using a wild yeast starter, rather than commercial yeast. This slow fermentation process enhances flavor, makes it easier to digest, and improves nutrient absorption. Many people find sourdough gentler on their stomach compared to regular bread.
10. Does sourdough have probiotics?
The fermentation process creates beneficial bacteria, but these probiotics do not survive baking. However, sourdough is still considered gut-friendly because its fermentation breaks down gluten and phytic acid, making nutrients more available.
Wisconsin Cottage Food Law & Policies
11. What is the Wisconsin Cottage Food Law?
This law allows home bakers to sell non-hazardous foods (like baked goods) directly to consumers without a commercial kitchen or licensing. However, my kitchen is not subject to state inspections, and I must sell my products in person or for local pickup only—no shipping allowed.
12. Can I return or exchange a product?
Due to the perishable nature of baked goods, I do not accept returns or exchanges. However, if you experience an issue with your order, please contact me, and I’ll do my best to make it right!
